JJ and Will Sweeney at Heavy Pencil

A couple of weeks ago, Will Sweeney and I took part in the Heavy Pencil drawing extravaganza that took place as part of the Pick Me Up graphic art fair at Somerset House in London. We appeared at the kind invitation of the supremely talented Andrew Rae

Special thanks to Rob Green for the musical accompaniment.

The Second Amos Miniature Plastic Workshop

We are pleased to announce that Amos will join with KK Outlet who will host the next Amos Miniature Plastic Workshop, in London's Hoxton Square.

The format will differ slightly to the Tokyo event as this one will continue through most of May.

We are still finalising exactly what we will be happening but we will definitely show some of our classic vinyl and plastic figure work, on display together for the first time in the UK.

Shipping permitted, we hope to have the large format five foot Caleb's on show for photo opportunities, probably for the last time as at least one of them has already been purchased and will be provided with a permanent home straight after the event.

James will have a side gallery of A4 (and a couple of A3) drawings which will be offered for sale, another rare opportunity as with the popular online gallery from a few years back.

And there will be an Amos pop up store selling branded products, one or two hard to find imported items, a few other Amos favourites, and the odd surprise.

More information soon.

Events in Japan

Like everyone one else we are shocked and moved by the scenes and reports that have come out of Japan since the devastating earthquake last Friday.

Some of those who read our posts will know we have many good friends in Tokyo and elsewhere in Japan. Thankfully, from what I have heard so far, they and their families are all well and doing their best to get through these terrible days.

Our thoughts are with all our friends there and the other people of Japan. We very much hope that things settle soon and they can actually begin to deal with horrors of the last few days and start the process of healing and reconstruction.

Major Moulty's Amazing Magical Plastic Band

During our Open Studio residency in Tokyo we were presented with this awesome image. Unfortunately I have no idea who gave it to us, so if the person responsible is reading this please contact Amos and we will give you the credit you so richly deserve.

Amos Miniature Plastic Workshop - Tokyo - Day 2

The final day of our open studio event was busier than yesterday thanks to better weather.

James worked hard producing spontaneous drawings for customers and visitors of all ages (including a load of young kids- always a great pleasure to see). And he finished the Japanese Wisdom of Caleb strips. Check out the beautiful second strip, "Spring is Coming", here. The final two Japanese WOC strips have been posted too.

Unlike yesterday, when we enlisted the help of many volunteers, today we needed one collaborator to help translate and provide us with Japanese text. Able assistance was provided by ever helpful, muti-talented, insanely patient, Mr Teruki Tatsuki whose beautiful handwriting makes him the third member of our Wisdom of Caleb Tokyo team.

All the drawings sold from JJs Gallery, the last (but by no means least) being bought by Mr Masahiko Tone from Brutus Casa magazine.

We are very grateful to everyone who came down and supported/took part in the event over the course of the 2 days, especially those who bought JJ's drawings and/or the Amos products available that were available.

Special thanks to long time Silas and Amos fans, Fumihito and Mari, who kindly bought gifts for James and me.

And big thanks to all at One Gram for their help, especially Sakata and Teru who organised everything so we could put the event together.

We declare the first Amos Plastic Miniature Workshop a great success and very much look forward to the next one soon.

The First Amos Miniature Plastic Workshop - Tokyo - Day 1

After our music festival adventure we had a very decent turnout for the first day of our open studio event. There was a steady flow of people, despite the heavy Tokyo rain.

James sold almost 2/3rds of his drawings, on the first day.

We had the opportunity to meet some very wonderful, hardcore JJ/Amos fans.

And we sincerely thank those that helped us to produce the first of our special Japanese edition hardcopy Wisdom of Caleb episodes. These are a few of the contributors.

You can see the final strip here.

More soon...
